Home Automation is a convenient way of getting things in and around your home to work automatically, but this differs significantly from Home Control.
Within the general population, people consider they have begun to automate their home by obtaining a device that responds to voice commands (“Alexa! OK Google!” and so on) but this is not the case. If you want to put a light on in your room and demand that your smart device does it for you, it’s not automation. It’s home control.
If the difference is unclear, think of it this way. Automation infers that things happen automatically, where control suggests you are in charge but must give orders.
What Is Smart Home Automation?
Imagine that you have been out for the day at work. You come home, and one of three scenarios take place:
The entirely manual system: You stop your car, get out, open the garage door, park the car, close the garage door. Then you go to your door, unlock it, step inside, close it. You switch on the lights, turn up the thermostat, put some music on the radio, and carry on with the rest of your evening.sell my home
The home control system: You drive home, press a button, the garage door opens, you park the car, and press a button to close the garage door. Then you go to your door, unlock it, step inside, close it. You tell your smart assistant device to switch on the lights, and then to turn up the thermostat, and to put some music on the radio (or tell it to run a previously named routine to do all those things)and carry on with the rest of your evening.
The home automation system: You drive home, the garage door opens, you park the car, and the garage door closes. Then you go to your door which automatically unlocks, and step inside to find the lights on at just the right brightness, the thermostat set perfectly, and your favorite music playing for you. What a way to start your evening!
While home control is certainly a desirable feature, true home automation involves very little input from the user after the initial set up and is able to adapt to different situations. Everything runs automatically for you.
If home control is like having a butler, the home automation is like having a mind-reading butler that knows exactly how you like everything to be.
